This layout was developed from a redundant branch terminus which became available when one of our previous clubrooms was not wide enough to accept it attached to Idlethorpe, one of the club's (now sold) larger layouts. The track layout was slightly modified and two further boards were added to form the layout.
It is an attempt to portray a line in the Yorkshire Dales leaving the Midland main line somewhere north of Skipton and running up to Daleside Road. From here the line has a spur to a limeworks further up the dale.
It has passenger facilities for the workers but these have proved popular for tourists and fell walkers who regularly use Upper Daleside station as a starting point. As a result the passenger services have been much extended to cope with the increased demand.
The limeworks, named in memory of a late member of the club, supplies various products from the minerals quarried nearby and brought to the works by narrow-gauge (OO9) feeder. The standard gauge then provides the transport from here to the rest of the system via Daleside Road.
